Tamil Milk Pudding (Palgova)

Today, we are going to post Nellai Recipes' first recipe, and the recipe that we are going to introduce to you is the Tamil Milk Pudding, known in Tamil as Palgova. Palgova is traditionally made on the stove and takes about an hour, but with microwave cooking, it can be made easily within 8-1o minutes!

Ingredients:
1. Sweet Condensed Milk (preferably Nestle) - 1 can
2. Curd (yogurt) - 2 tablespoons
3. Unsalted butter - 1 stick

Procedure:
In a deep porcelain or microwaveable bowl, pour the condensed milk and add 2 tablespoons of yogurt and 1 stick of butter. Place the bowl in the microwave ( 1000 watt) for 3 minutes. Then take it out and give a stir with a wooden spatula so that the butter and yogurt mixes well with the milk. Again, place the bowl in the microwave for about 3 minutes. Caution: Keep a watch on the microwave so that the contents in the bowl do not pour out! Take out the bowl and stir again. Once again, you must put the bowl back in the microwave for 2 minutes. Once you take it out, let it cool, so that you can transfer it into a serving bowl.

P.S. If you feel it has not solidified, place it in the microwave for two more minutes.

Tips:
1.You place it in and out of the microwave 3 times.
2. Whenever the directions tell you to give it a stir, you really must STIR, as this is crucial for the mixture of the three ingredients.
3. Don't worry if you don't get it on our first try, the power voltage of the microwave may mean that you need keep longer in the microwave for the Palgova to solidify. For tamil folks, it will taste like theratupal. Hopefully brings back some memories!

Well we hope you enjoy this sweet, and it is a wonderful sweet to bring to pujas, birthday parties, potlucks, not to mention the perfect sweet for Krishna Jayanti!
The palgova can even be treated like birthday cake, and you can use skittles or m and m's, to write "Happy Birthday" on the palgova.

Note from the Webmaster: We would really appreciate comments as this is our first recipe. Pictures are coming soon!

Thank You and Cook on!

Hello!

Hello All,
We hope that you enjoy the traditional South Indian recipes that we bring to you, and hope that you actually try them! One good tip, try to actually identify the ingredients of the food that you eat, while tasting them. You could just go to Taco Bell, get a taco, and taste and identify every single ingredient to the best of your ability! Always remember, cooking requires imagination and patience.

Thank you, and we would like to end with an interesting quote: The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Cook On!
